Meat For Cheap

Hello,

For those who live in the Boston/southern MA area, I wanted to share one of my favorite butcher shops, Hilltop Steakhouse Butcher Shop. They routinely run pretty amazing deals on meat and shrimp. I found it when I lived in Braintree, but I still will drive an hour to stock up when something really good comes up. You can check the circular on the web, which makes it really easy to pick a good week to make a trip.

Example - this week they are selling sirloin steak tips for $2.99/lb and tenderloin steaks (ie, filet mignon) for $4.99/lb, trimmed. Usually, when they run the steak deals, they also have whole cuts for about .50-.60/lb less that you can custom cut yourself at home and save a little more. Since tenderloin usually runs $8.99-$11.99 a lb, it's a good deal, even if you you spend a little extra in gas.

They have 2 locations, one in Saugus and one in Weymouth. Here is a link to directions for both.

-Robin

Darn, that is a little too far for me to drive to go regularly. Maybe I'll visit it out though =)

But if you want to check out a place south, check out Chartley Country Store. Link here: www.chartleys.com Its a family owned and run store in Rehoboth, MA (they actually have two, the second in Norton, MA. The Rehoboth one is the main store). I worked here for a year and a half, so I know the quality of what comes through.

They have a standard pre-cut deli counter as well as wholesale full pieces. Decent prices, great sales. They do these different "bundle" packages where they combine a few different types of meat for one price. I know a lot of families who used to get them cause it was cheaper than buying it all separate.

Anyhoo, not trying to steal your thunder, just giving you more info!
