If you're in the CT area and looking for a good campsite, I highly recommend The Devil's Hopyard in East Haddam. The site and trails are nice and the falls are awesome! We just came back from camping there this weekend.

My friend had her wedding there a few years ago. It is quite a beautiful place.

is it just open to the public or do you have to pay for the site you use? Been looking for a good camping area for a while, sick of the ones I used for years that are about 38 bucks a night and don't allow alcohol. sorry but when I'm camping I want to have a few beers with a few friends and act the fool hah.

It's 11 dollars a night, and you can bring alcohol. no kegs, and I think nothing over a liter, so 6-packs are okay.

The campsites are 400 square feet and I would recommend the ones in the back (Site 10 or so). There are toilets but no showers. There are a lot of birds including red-wind blackbirds and hawks if you like pictures, not to mention the falls. It is also a very close drive to Gillette Castle.
