Looking For Crafting Donations For An Elementary School

Hello All,

As some of you know, I'm a librarian at a K-8 school in New Haven CT.

What some of you may NOT know, is that librarians are no longer the tight-bunned, totalitarian shushers of yesteryear. We teach the kids basically anything that needs to be taught and try to bridge all the disciplines.

During my prep period this year, I want to have an open library crafting/makerspace for my kids.

I'm looking for ANY kind of donations that I can use to teach the kids to use their hands and produce things.

Knitting needles, crochet hooks, sewing needles, thread, yarn, construction paper, colored pens/pencils/markers, stencils, protractors, compasses, graphing paper, tape...

Literally ANYTHING (well, no heavy construction equipment. OSHA might whine...).

If you're SUPER DUPER AMAZING, Legos, K'Nex, erector sets, Lincoln Logs, blocks, and the like would be unfathomably amazing.

WHATEVER you can give would be wonderful.

Sincerely,
Benu Athanasia

As a trained OSHA guy I appreciate you not breaking any rules. I’ll see what I can dig up mu side. I might not have it for fall -1 as I just saw this but fall -2 for sure for some stuff. One of the perks of being married to an Art Teacher is tons of craft supplies..

Hey all,

Thank you SOOO much for the offers!
Yes I will be at Fall 1 (and 2 and 3...I've yet to miss an event since I started, Woot-woot!).
I cannot WAIT to see my kids' faces when they find out about all the amazing friends I have!

I met a lady that is selling of the estate of her sister who did quite a few crafts. While I don't have the money to do this myself, if somebody or several people together wanted to donate the money I could purchase her craft items and bring them to game. She had three or four good size boxes of nice crafting supplies of various types ( stamps, birds, fancy paper, stickers and more.) She indicated that she would be willing to sell everything for sixty dollars.
