PEOPLE ARE TALKING
"Having played medieval fantasy combat live roleplaying games throughout the Northeastern United States for ten years and with experience in eight different game systems, I feel confident in saying that this Mythical Journeys event was the most professional I have yet attended"
- Metagame Magazine.

Over the years we have seen a lot of hype on whose live role-playing game is the best out there. Some games gauge their success on the number of chapters they have or how fast their chapters are given away versus the quality in each chapter.

Every game is different and we encourage our members to try other systems to see what is best for them. We make no claims that we are the best out there - we allow our members to boast those claims for us.

Our goal is to entertain you in a live setting in ways you have never dreamt possible - to leave nothing to your imagination. To do this we solicit your post-event input in the form of feedback letters. These letters tell us what you liked and disliked about the event and what you would have done differently to make the event better. We then use this information to see what we are doing right and where we need to make adjustments to improve your next experience with us. It is your thoughts and ideas that have helped to shape this game world in a manner that is precisely what you want to see.

Below you will find a list of excerpts from our member feedback letters sorted by year. These comments are the participants own words (and may contain grammar and spelling errors) describing their daring adventures and what they thought of their Mythical Journeys experience. Read on to see what our members are saying about us.

'...the attack on Freehold by Blackhold was PHENOMENAL, especially the pyrotechnics involved!  '
'You attacked the thirteen most powerful magic users in the wurld with a frying pan and a cleaver? - A hero uses whatever means they have at their disposal.  '
'I thought that this was a particularly exciting and action-packed event. There were one, or two slow points, but overall I felt this to be a superior event and many of the others I have talked to feel the same way. I cannot emphasize enough how much action there was at this event. It seemed that every day had its share of wurld-altering events. This made the event one of the most exciting of those I can remember.  '
'There was an awesome battles of the mages and i got to experience the portal for the first time. There was a lot more fighting and different characters that i never talked to before.  '
'I really enjoyed the entertainment at the Tavern and the surprise attack from the "Otherworld" through the portals.  '
'I had a blast crawling through the Kobold caves after those pesky runts, every time we were sure we had it covered pop, here comes another Kobold or a dagger from around a turn.  '
'This event was the best I have been to. It started off packed with action and never stopped. the first night I engaged some queens army giant kin with an officer with them.  '
'Fate is a serious matter, however the dark humor surrounding Fate is just great. I wish he would make up his mind for once. Do you want me to flip the card myself, or let you do it? He seems to be quite fickle with that.  '
'I would like to add a final note here to let you all know what a great event this was. On a purely personal level, it was incredibly rewarding on many levels: the camaraderie and fellowship of the... is increasing with each event; we feel as if we are going somewhere – that we have a mission, goals, objectives, motivations, etc; the role-playing was excellent among PC and NPC alike. On a larger level, there was an overall feeling of plot moving forward, of sweeping changes, of being part of an overall plot. ...I feel like we’re rushing toward some climactic moment (hopefully the death of the Dark Queen and not the destruction of the Wurld!). It is actually a bit frightening – like it might just all get out of control. But for now it lends a wonderful air of excitement and hope to the game.  '
'Satyrday night was 1-2 hours of pure terror!  '
'my favorite part of the event was the Kobold caves it was nice to fight something that didn't kick my butt. In the end me and my four companions were all waylaid by the exact same kobold while climbing out the back door of the caves. It was one of the funniest thing to ever happen to me at MJ.  '
'What I love about MJ is its ability to place humor into almost any situation. You need comedy relief sometimes (especially when the Stormtroopers come to the Iceplanet Hoth and...er...I mean when the Queen comes to town and you've got no spells left..).  '
'I had a blast. I cannot say enough about it.
Not only was it fun but...  '
'The most memorable part was leisurely sitting in the tavern, when all of a sudden.....that damn portal. All of a sudden - monsters everywhere. Way cool idea.  '
'When we woke up sunday morning the town was beeing attacked and by the time we made it there it was pretty much over for the bell did ring. But wow, just damn, what and event im speechless.  '
'The pace of this event was intense! Right off the bat, starting with the Orc attack on the Tavern Friarsday night, there was danger everywhere.  '
'Well, In the first night of last moon when all citizens of freehold had to gather and goto blackhold, the battle the ensued was NUTS!!! I had an idea that the event would be well organized and planned, but not like this.  '
'Let me start with a simple and profound Wow! The battle against the circle was astounding.  '
'We are underdogs in an almost unwinable war, which makes this game one of the funnest LARP's I have ever taken part in.  '
'I had a great time this weekend. I especially loved the final battle on Sunday. A whole bunch of baddies that i could actually effect with my weapon and that there was so many of them that posed a real threat, was a great combination.  '
'Wow, fogmachines and death. Gates opening up everywhere. Wow. Awsome. This was the most amazing MJ for me yet.  '
'Brian or Greg can happily recount the tale of our excursion in which we killed about 40 kobolds only to have 2 kill us off. In a sense we "lost" and failed the mission, BUT it was so much fun and I couldnt stop laughing about it for a long time. It was great!  '
'I had a great time and felt some thing I had not in a long time, Scared.  '
'I had a blast crawling through the Kobold caves after those pesky runts, every time we were sure we had it covered pop, here comes another Kobold or a dagger from around a turn. Not only was it fun but the guard got to do something as a group.  '
'me, and I believe one other who I cant remember waited at the end of the portal to help defend everyone leaving from the fiend that waited there. We must have been fighting it for 20 minutes and it just wouldn't die. After everyone was out we tried to leave then the portal clossed on us. I was so scared as the fiend looked back at us and just laughed.  '
'This event was the best I have been to. It started off packed with action and never stopped.  '
'I would like to add a final note here to let you all know what a great event this was. On a purely personal level, it was incredibly rewarding on many levels: the camaraderie and fellowship of the rangers is increasing with each event; we feel as if we are going somewhere – that we have a mission, goals, objectives, motivations, etc; the role-playing was excellent among PC and NPC alike.  '
'...the special effects that accompanied the Fiend attack Satyrsday night were terrific. The sight of fiends coming through that thick smoke was just awesome. Really scary. I thought that the different fiends looked great: four arms, wings, and so many different faces. It was really great. The Baarteyu (sp?) was especially terrifying  '
'...great job scaring the crap out of us a number of times this event. I felt that an extra step was taken for atmosphere in a number of situations, and it really did show.  '
'The pace of this event was intense!  '
'I found myself immersed in a world where my actions have consequence and it would seem that I have a few things to answer for.  '
'How can mere humans run such an inhumanly amazing game?  '
'It was my first event, and I'm glad that I was there to experience it. Everyone took the game seriously and I truly felt like I was in a different land at a different time. I will continue to play this game for many moons to come. Thanks MJ!  '
'another quality event BRAVO to the cast  '
'What a great event!!! Going through the portal was really cool and scary!  '
'I thought the balance of fighting and roleplaying was great this event. There was almost no time at all when I was waiting around for something to happen. I was either fighting, talking with people, busy with guard duty, etc. all the time. It was great.  '
'Take a risk for what your CHARACTER would do in a given situation. MJ really gives that ability to get into character.  '
'This event rocked. I loved it. Right from the beginning it was intense.  '
'Once again, MJ is GREAT the way it is. Love it, love it, love it.  '
'One highlight for me was running Brinn's auction which was alot of fun. Even when we got attacked by undead. I ran my butt off in the woods..alone...with no light. My heart was pounding. I was afraid! Then I realized "This is only a game!" That was awesome.  '
'...The final thing is to offer you serious congratulations. I've recently learned (yet again) some in-game information which I had missed partly because it was more subtle and intricate than I typically give gamemasters/plotmasters credit for. It's not the first time this has happened in MJ. I'm really impressed with the quality of MJ Plot and its behind-the-scenes intricacy and coherence. Now that I'm coming to accept that it is so, sleuthing in-game becomes much more rewarding! Few things are more of a letdown than following subtle clues to naught, because Plot hadn't thought the consequences of their plans through; conversely, few things are as fun as playing within a genuinely cogent and complex plotline. So thanks for everything! I'm more and more impressed and have become completely addicted...  '
'...I just gotta tell you (as if you haven't already heard it) You've got a great thing goin here. Yer events are something I look forward to from the time the previous one ends. It's just an overall good time. You've got good people runnin it, an AMAZING cast, plot coordination beyond belief, and all bases covered for everything anyone could ever want to do...  '
'... I walked into the room. I knew it was only a game. It's not real. How scary could it be? But still my knees were knocking and every bone in my body was shaking  '
'I would like to thank EVERYONE for such a wonderful weekend. It was my first LARP experiance and it was amazing. When I got home and I was walking around I kept on getting this nervous feeling and I realised that I was going through withdrawel. I did'nt have my sword to protect me. :) Special thanks to all those who came up to me and included me in what was going on. My quote for this week, spoken by unknown while they were passing by the newcomers on the first day. "Whatever the guards say, DONT pick up the soap.  '
'I had a great time, and I enjoyed being able to interact with others as I did. I felt that, as a majority, the cast and staff did a wonderful job, and that the other players, both experienced and greenhorns alike, were helpful and fun fun to interact with. Bravo, MJ cast and players and staff!  '
'I Loved Every Minute of it  '
'The tavern setup was pretty impressive-it being so busy was tremendously cool  '
'MJ staffers are always thinking and that's what makes the game so fun and always a challenge.  '
'First of all, I had a fantastic time at MJ! The role-playing challenge is much greater when you don't pause for dice rolls and flipping through the rule books...  '
'Everyone I know has agreed this was our best MJ yet, and we can't wait for May  '
'I give my first event with MJ an A+.  '
'This weekend was my first time at MJ, and I casted to get the hang of the system before I came in as a player. What I saw amazed me - real plot lines, varied NPC's and monsters, varied character interaction, and a very dedicated cast. My original plan had been to cast this weekend and play the next event, but now I'm wavering because I had so damn much fun!  '
'I had a Blast!!! I got to see spells I had never even dreamed about. Such as Shield of Ages and Nikkodemus even chanted one about not being able to be raised from the dead!!! I love it!  '
'...It was at that point that I realized the level of professionalism and dedication by the staff that makes this game so addictive. I was frightened of dying again, actually scared, and that is how it should be.  '
'...I prefer the "virtual reality" of this game. There are no confusing spells or damage calls in combat. I never once heard a hold or a clarify in combat. It was all about really playing your role. If I want to be a great fighter, I had better learn to hit the monsters more often. If I want to be a stealthy ranger, I had better learn to walk quietly, and learn how to hide. If I want to be a assassin, I need to get better at slipping M&M's in people's drinks without anyone seeing. I think it is so much easier and cooler to have a completely realistic fantasy world, that you come out, and interact with. Not a "game", where you have to know a million complex rules. I really enjoyed the free flow of this game. It was really enjoyable, and very easy for new players to understand.  '
'I felt that there was TONS of plot happening out there if you went to find it, and there were some of the best roleplaying experiences I have ever had! The biggest problem is there wasn't enough time to explore everything! I can't wait to explore more plot next event.  '
'Everything was really great. you all did a great job! Fantastic!  '
'Let me start by saying this past event was one of the finest games I've attended. Thank you all very much. I was encouraged to take my own role-playing ability to a new level..  '
'Another success! i have been to games that have been just ok and i have been to games that kick butt and this was one that totally kicked butt!! the best court session i've ever been to!! how exciting and scarry, we didn't know what was going to happen and when it did, wow!  '
'The depth and complexity of this game has not been better shown than the rising against the queen. To hint at the plots and sub plots going on, the prophecy and treaty, wow! I can't begin to imagine how ipressed the newies were, hell I was blown away and I knew about most of this already!  '
'Hi guys! I wanted to send off a quick PEL from last game. I am still STUNNED by everything that happened. Absolutely wonderful. I really take my hats of to you guys for having the gall to invoke such potentially major changes to the world you have created. Time and again my biggest compliment to your game is that it is so unrestricted. You guys really empower creative players with real ways to change even major areas in your game. I like knowing that anything can and probably WILL happen.  '
'I loved the little different journeys and missions we had to do. Fighting creatures was cool and the people were really nice!  '
'...I had my best time yet and I think you guys run an incredible game  '
'Sudenly, a snarl from behind scared us out of our skins, and I turned, expecting to face the Gnolls. The creatures I faced were totally unfamiliar to me - horrid in appearance. I looked for out guides but could not find them. Then it hit me - these WERE our guides! We fought them off, terrified all the while, then made our escape. Were heard them rizing up and roaring behind us, and we did not stop running until we were almost back in town! It was one of the most exciting times I've had in Freehold!  '
