PEOPLE ARE TALKING
"Having played medieval fantasy combat live roleplaying games throughout the Northeastern United States for ten years and with experience in eight different game systems, I feel confident in saying that this Mythical Journeys event was the most professional I have yet attended"
- Metagame Magazine.

Over the years we have seen a lot of hype on whose live role-playing game is the best out there. Some games gauge their success on the number of chapters they have or how fast their chapters are given away versus the quality in each chapter.

Every game is different and we encourage our members to try other systems to see what is best for them. We make no claims that we are the best out there - we allow our members to boast those claims for us.

Our goal is to entertain you in a live setting in ways you have never dreamt possible - to leave nothing to your imagination. To do this we solicit your post-event input in the form of feedback letters. These letters tell us what you liked and disliked about the event and what you would have done differently to make the event better. We then use this information to see what we are doing right and where we need to make adjustments to improve your next experience with us. It is your thoughts and ideas that have helped to shape this game world in a manner that is precisely what you want to see.

Below you will find a list of excerpts from our member feedback letters sorted by year. These comments are the participants own words (and may contain grammar and spelling errors) describing their daring adventures and what they thought of their Mythical Journeys experience. Read on to see what our members are saying about us.

'It was my first time at any LARP event and I was wondering if this was really my thing. I stayed and helped play cast. I had the greatest time! I loved playing a monster, theif, the second human to win the challenge, the Void and I could go on and on. I will always be there to terrorize the players. It was excellent!!!!!  '
'...This was without a doubt the best adventure I had ever taken part in. I was convinced that you could never top last events vent crawl..., it seems that i was wrong, way wrong  '
'...This is the moment in time when the realization that I might be in real trouble came creeping in. (in reality I was shaking the whole time, the rational part of your brain keeps screaming, trying to bring you back to your senses...  '
'...I just have to say this was the best MJ event i have ever attended...  '
'The scarecrow was AMAZING he stood on stilts and fought great just as if he wasnt wearing any stilts...  '
'...I think this was the best game I'd ever been to...  '
'All right, this has been the best event that I have been to yet! BRAVO! You guys really out do your selves and for that I thank you all.  '
'MJ gets better and better every time I go.  '
'Oh...My....GOD!! It wasn't a fluke, it really does keep getting better. From open to close, from our attack on the Priestess of Zoedain and the Queen's Guard to the Spellsinger module to the to the meeting with Dylan and Teniford to the Wedding to the battle with the Shadow creatures and the execution of Ascaris...Non-stop Fun and excitement. Anybody who didn't have fun must've been sleeping or on heavy medication. The plot opportunities for new and experienced players alike are many and varied, and the cast is professional and generous. Thank You!!  '
'She (the Representative of Zoedain) freaked me out! With her 'Pleases' and 'Thank you's', It was just scary! She was like a black widow. You knew she was up to something but she hid it so well! I wouldn't have guessed she followed Zodain.  '
'I gotta say the DARK DWARVES rocked. And not just because the knocked me flat in 30 seconds without magic. Because the are really intimidating and everything I would have thought they would be. The role-playing you guys did was super. I was quite intimidated.  '
'Awesomely entertaining! I had a lot of fun casting and playing my character!  '
'Everyone I interacted with was simply amazing his event. It is not easy to keep my constant attention and this event had my focus with every new person I met. From the Pasha, To Lord Jaeger, even a drunken troll...all did excellently.  '
'The builder goblins were histerical. Their uses for kobolds were priceless. We even brought a kobold back for them, but they had already left. Kudos for their costuming...  '
'What a blast!!! Lots of adventure to be had at all times. And the creativity that goes into the NPC's and modules...WOW! The MJ experience is a great combination of roleplaying interactive theatre & hack &slash. There is so much depth and variety to the game that every character class has something to pursue.  '
'The module to smoke and mists was superbly done. I was so nervous going in. This was such a major thing to my character and to me and there was little margin for error. From the time Jasmine visted and read my fortune to the moment I went on the module it was almost all I could think about. Well done on the climactic buildup! Also once I stepped into the module it was truly otherworldly and the denizens were fantastic.  '
'You guys rock! This is so much fun. You all put in so much work and probably don't get thanked enough. I was always impressed as a player by how smoothly things ran, and how creative and imaginative MJ is. After having casted for sunday I have found even more respect for all you do. Thank you for all your hard work.  '
'I could not possibly have imagined how much I was to enjoy my first LARP experience. Players, cast and staff were all helpful, kind and generous with help, advice and opportunities to interact with the game. My character will really be able to develop far beyond the scope of my original vision. I'm thrilled at the prospect of his future. What a great group of people. I've found a second home in Freehold!!  '
'This was one of my favorite events yet. I had a new character and he gave me a very different perspective of this game. It amazes me how many angles this game has.  '
'I have recently played MJ for the first time. I know how hard it is to run a larp, and MJ is simply amazing. Keep up the good work guys!  '
'All in all it was the best MJ event I ever had! Afterwards we all felt puissant and effectual.  '
'The new alchemy system is great. There's so much to explore and learn. I spend a great deal of time sitting on grassy spots figuring out what each component might do, how to solve the overharvesting problem, deciding what potions to make, and so on. It seems like there is never down time in the events for me...  '
'Hanging out in the taverns was a lot of fun, the atmosphere was wonderful. Also the battles were a lot of fun, and the rules of battle were comprehensive and didn't impede the flow of battle. The costuming of the monsters was excellent! I was very impressed with the variety of monsters and their different personalities and habits.  '
'This was by far one of my most fun events.  '
'The module during Saturday was great! Plus with Thergos' Avatar making an appearance, this event really sealed my love for this LARP.  '
'BIG KUDOS FOR THE CAST AND CREATORS OF THE GNOLL CAVE MODULE! What an amazing adventure! That was the most fun I had all game. It was long and involved, required planning and tactics (and lots of gnoll treats) and gave a real sense of comradeship with my companions. The cave was very scary, with its low ceilings, narrow passageways and ominous howling sounds. I consider myself very lucky to have had the opportunity to participate in such an awesome adventure. I really liked the fact you had so much going on all the time. Whether it be wandering trolls and gnolls, a group of marauding brigands in the woods, or a goblin with a story to tell, there was always a bit of adventure to be had. KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK!  '
'Thanks Guys...I hope you enjoy the story as much as I enjoyed living it this weekend!  '
'This was our busiest event ever! Because of that it was one of our best events ever. We were involved in something every minute. I think you guys did a great job of keeping things happening even though you were short on cast.  '
'...This was my favorite event to date. You guys are amazing. I don't know how you all do it, but keep it up. I was on my feet and doing things this entire event. And I don't mean fighting, I was interacting with people, walking through the woods, looking for treasure, dancing in the tavern. I did it all, and loved it. Thanks. Can't wait for the next event.  '
'I would like to take this box to say how impressed I was by your perseverence in running a top-notch game despite dangerously low levels of cast members. Excellent job!  '
'I had a great weekend. It was non-stop roleplaying from the minute the whistle blew  '
'... this event was outstanding. I've only been to this one and the last one, but this one was ten times better. The cast was more organized, the plot was deeper, the enemies were better. Everything was two steps up from last time. I enjoyed the modules, the dwarven mission to the warg camp, the maze, the trap building.  '
'...The fact that he was actually walking unnoticed with the party that was out to kill him was in retrospect extremely creepy in game, and very funny out of game.  '
'The only one with a light component I quickly found myself at the front of the group trudging down a dark trail when we began to hear an uneasy groaning coming from the forest and the cries of lord Varencia. We saw the undead moving towards us and prepared for battle, never having battled these things I leapt into the fray. Even though they moved slowly they were difficult to combat in the darkness but we finaly destroyed them and managed to save Lord Varencia  '
'All in all a great first event for me.. I would like to thank you for the wonderful time I had.  '
'I enjoyed the fight with the Giant kin a lot. Before the fight, he was going around, prying up rocks and logs, and then putting them back down again. We thought that maybe it had lost the eggs, and was looking for them - so we let him look. Then we realized that it was just looking for a good-sized rock to throw at us.  '
'Your work really paid off- this event was tremendous! Plot writers: My gosh, you must have been busy over the winter!  '
'Saturday night was incredible, everyone was on edge  '
'I must admit, for an event played at a brand new camp that not only the players, but the cast, went into completely blind, it was one of the best events I have been too.  '
'I also liked all of the plot twists, like the monsters coming out of the woods claiming it was their town and we should get out, and that lord getting arrested when the bell rang.  '
'I really liked the old Gypsy in the woods, she gave the new town a kind of creepy feel even before we got there.  '
'Before I begin - thank you very much for personal plot. Although the character hates it, I love it and very much appreciate what you did. I understand that I usurped a major staff member for all of Friday night, and I am very grateful that the game is willing to do that for its players.  '
'It was just terribly amusing to be eaten. The concept was fantastic and well played.  '
'What can I say I had a great time. Even in death I had a great time.  '
'This was my first event and I had a blast! First night and I found the thing I will hate at every event, Kobolds.  '
'I was very happy the way MJ made the players feel special with the high rank and honors awarded to them. This adds a sense of true belonging to the game, and ties the players by making them a part of the games plot line.  '
'I think it is very indicative of the depth of role-playing and the complexity of the society and economy in MJ that someone like me who doesn't fight, doesn't explore, and doesn't adventure had virtually no free time at all on Saturday until well after nightfall.  '
'Weeelll now. Evil evil evil game. Truly well done!  '
'...Then as she stalked over to me, her body language was that of a raptor going for a kill, she just oozed malice...  '
'This was my first event and I had a blast!  '
'After the sun went down Saturday Night, the fun never stopped.  '
'The encounter with the Banshee on Saturday Night was the scariest moment my character has ever seen. Hearing the dreaded voice get louder and louder as this glowing, screaming thing is literally chasing you sent chills down my spine. Both IG and OOG I was scared. That's what I look for in a LARP! Kudos to whoever created that character.  '
'We hid really, really far into the woods, and didn't come back until game ended. I have never been so scared at MJ before, with the exception of November, when all the gates opened up and God-knows-what came boiling out of the smoke, but that's pretty damn hard to top.  '
'I had a blast! You plot writers must have been having a lot of fun during the winter!  '
'Saturday night was incredible, everyone was on edge  '
'...the cliffhanger ending to the weekend was very well done. But it's going to drive me crazy! I wonder how it will go down...  '
'The mere fact that you are reading and re-reading character histories, and filling them in, bringing details out in game, is just outstanding.  '
'...even with little time to set up the camp, and even in the face of running the game on unfamiliar turf, you provided a top-notch game. I was busy all the time!  '
'The Banshee: Hooo! She was scary! And she could move SO fast, by just striding quickly. It was really like she was floating. The air of the game was different with all the ghosts around. I liked it.  '
'The MJ folk honestly care about their game and their fellow players, and I, as a newbie, am eternally grateful.  '
'The sheer size and girth of the Giant-kin made me jump back and pinch myself the first time I saw one. I was truely amazed. For a while I really felt like I was in another world in grave danger!!!!!  '
'The glowing ghosts were REALLY frightening and cool  '
'...But the fact it that I cannot improve on MJ right now, it is simply wonderful and as the very bad and tired cliche goes, if it's not broke, don't fix it!  '
'I must admit, for an event played at a brand new camp that not only the players, but the cast, went into completely blind, it was one of the best events I have been too.  '
'After the sun went down Saturday Night, the fun never stopped!  '
'I had a blast! You plot writers must have been having a lot of fun during the winter!  '
'Saturday night was incredible, everyone was on edge!  '
'...being in a new camp and not knowing anything like the PC's, you guys did a great job and had us guessing all event! It kept us in suspence. It was awesome even though we knew nothing about this new camp.  '
' A lot of this game runs on the flow of information, and it's fun to be there when information is revealed - it makes me feel that much more "invested" in the world that grows more and more detailed with each event.  '
'Plot writers: My gosh, you must have been busy over the winter! Almost everyone in my core group of friends had something specific happen for their character, and it was great. The mere fact that you are reading and re-reading character histories, and filling them in, bringing details out in game, is just outstanding. Bravo!  '
'So much happened to me this event, I'm certain I will leave something out. That's fantastic - even with little time to set up the camp, and even in the face of running the game on unfamiliar turf, you provided a top-notch game. I was busy all the time!  '
'I do want to say that I was impressed with the management of the game and the cast... even though things were a mess, you guys kept everything moving (to various degrees of smoothness, yes, but it moved :) I was also *very* impressed and pleasantly surprised by the depth of everyone's devotion to the game and its workings... brownie points or no, problems or no, everyone I met (player AND cast) had a vested interest in making the game, and the weekend, as best it could. The MJ folk honestly care about their game and their fellow players, and I, as a newbie, am eternally grateful...  '
'Working with other new-bees was helpful just because we were all in the same boat, but we learned from each others' mistakes and got better. Not to mention great advice that we got from the advanced players like Roc and some others.  '
'You folks do a most wondrefull job. I think you really go out of your way to make it fun for everyone.  '
'I had an incredable time... I cant wait to come back.  '
'I had a great time and am thrilled the season has begun again.  '
